Bring optimistic change in Tamilnadu State, India

Bring optimistic change in State, says Ramadoss Staff Reporter

TIRUNELVELI: Asserting that he would always be a shield to the Devendrakula Vellala community, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss has said youths from this “oppressed” community should think deeply about their status in society so that they can bring about an optimistic change in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a felicitation function organised here on Sunday by the Confederation of Tamil Nadu Devendrakula Vellala Associations, Dr. Ramadoss said the Pattali Makkal Katchi was constantly working to bring about mutual understanding between the Dalits and other communities such as Vanniar, Thevar, Yadhava, and so on. The Devendrakula Vellala youths in the age group between 18 and 30 must deeply contemplate about their social and economical status in society and also about the force that was preventing them from acquiring their due share in political power.

“The Devendrakula Vellala youths, who are being exploited only as a vote bank and subsequently deceived, can only then think about the positive change in the State they can usher in,” Dr. Ramadoss said.

The PMK founder appealed to youths from all communities to keep themselves away from cinema halls and liquor. Dr. Ramadoss promised that he would strive for the construction of a memorial for Emmanuel Sekaran and would always be a shield to the people from Devendrakula Vellala community.

PMK president G.K. Mani reiterated that the PMK never argued in favour of the scrapping of Protection of Civil Rights Act being used to prevent atrocities against the Dalits. “We only expressed our displeasure over its misuse as a case was once booked even against me under the provisions of this Act,” he noted.
